Presentation of the new P2C2 program at NSF (Lane); discussion of the future of deep time paleoclimatology

4)     2008 Discussion topics:

-Already have plans for some research conferences, so will push conveners along.

5)     Report:

Rich Lane presented a talk on the new P2C2 program at NSF, highlighting the new guidelines. He urged us all to communicate to the broader community the need to demonstrate I interest in deep-time climate pursuits, primarily through proposal pressure, but through other means as well.  Discussion thereafter centered around how best to raise awareness of the need for and contributions of deep time climate research, with possibilities including the establishment of a GeoSystems office, perhaps along the lines of what PAGES pursues.
